I think that if you meet someone you are attracted to in pursuit of your hobbies, I think you should be direct and be prepared for success or rejection, this is a dilemna everyone faces regardless of their challenges.
For myself, if I do not approach someone I am attracted to, this is down to my own insecurities, but I know that, and ideally, one needs to reach for what and whom one wants from a place of self love.
Another way to approach this is to use a dating website, and specify your hobbies and interests, put up a photograph, and also be yourself, talk about your challenges, there are also dating websites for people with autism or other challenges.
Don't be so hard on yourself, it's a shame that you use words like trashy and irritating about yourself, try to view yourself as someone else would, with compassion and respect and an open mind.
