Welcome to the What is Your Black Dog? Competition site.

The What is your Black Dog? competition is running until March 31st 2016.

The Black Dog Campaign has been running since 2011, with offices, schools and other institutions becoming home to the SANE black dog statues. World Mental Health day 2015 sees the Black Dog team launch What is Your Black Dog? We are giving young people of school age the opportunity to get involved with SANE and find out more about issues surrounding mental health.

Students are invited to participate in a competition in the three areas of design, poetry and photography to submit a creative piece describing what mental illness means to them. To design your own Black Dog coat, download the template here.

Winners will be chosen by a panel in each category, as well as large numbers of submissions being put on public display in the run up to competition close in Spring 2016.

Hundreds of students are already involved, with some schools taking it on as an initiative!

To let us know you want to get involved, email

A sincere thank you,
