Hope: seeing the person and not the illness; realistic optimism. Nurturing the spark of hope.
Compassion: support for anyone affected by mental illness, including carers family and friends.
Respect: valuing, listening to and responding to the reality of a person’s experience.
Dignity: the right to receive consistent, individual and holistic treatment.
Asylum: the right for people or families in crisis or acute distress to have immediate access to an appropriate ‘safe haven'.
