Hi Cyprus

No i haven't. I do know there is something to do with eye movement. If i can find whst its called ill let you know

Person centered counselling might help.

Sorry I can't help anymore than that

Hi there- I found a sensorimotor therapist privately to gain help with childhood trauma. Saw him fortnightly for about 18 months. Definitely helped but was costly at £45 a session.
You might be able to get help Free through NHS IAPT services- depends what area you live in? In my area you can have 12 sessions for PTSD but there is also a compassion focused course of 12 weeks followed by 12 weeks trauma focused CBT. You might have to wait a few months to access either though.
It's well worth researching and the benefits are immense. Trauma that is untreated can go on to affect your life in so many ways- therapy can help you come to terms with your past, feel less frightened and build better more trusting relationships with others. You're also less likely to relapse with other conditions such as depression which are linked to earlier traumas. Hope this helps. And good luck. X

Btw the 'eye movement ' therapy is called EMDR- again you might be able to access that through your local NHS IAPT service .

I am wondering the same thing as I am just being referred for trauma counselling now. But I am in Holland so I am not sure if anything I discover will be relevant. I think EMDR is one of the options for me too. Something about moving your eyes around whilst talking in a safe environment is supposed to help you work the trauma through. Not sure about it further.

Thankyou Amelie
It so makes sense to me was explained by a workplace referral but think I need long term and want offer x cbt is the big thing with iapt and don’t think it helps in my situation as you don’t solve the issues I feel like I paste over the issues
It’s tough think I may need to be more forceful as I just clam up in face to face situation with Drs my referral was a lady who specialised in trauma did describe me to a t the first person ever she think I am stuck and can’t move on as all about how my emotions make me feel and they put me back to fight or flight so have a few things going on and may have to see about how much it will cost arrgghh can’t helping going from one crisis to another and not coping with real life
