no one will get this trig

Postby Lucretia » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:40 pm

im feeling wrong
ive jusdt watched a film, and its made me feel ill

i was about 3 boys growing up in 1950s america

the time was different, the place was different/the people were different

but it was like watching my life.
it was just how my childhood was
everyone on the outside thought our family was ok,that my d a d treated us ok
and loved us
but he was just like the father in this film
it wasnt anything like the picture he tried to give to outsiders
he would be ok one second then the next just blow up out of nowhere
we were expected to be grateful he fed us clothed us even though thats a dads job to do

it was horrible it was like watching him

everyone had to act a different way with him be perfect and not make a mistake, put a foot wrong, accidently say the wrong thing or there would be consequenses
the little boy said in the film 'please god kill him'

i felt what he felt,it was like my life
and everyone probably thinks im mad posting this but it felt so wrong yet so familiar watching that film
It's nice to be important ,but it's more important to be nice

That makes perfect sense RJ. You are not mad, you could just relate the characters in the film and it reminded you of your childhood. Its understandable why that would feel familiar but difficult. Hope you are ok. Hugs xxx

Hi RJ i can totaly understand where your coming from, its like the others said its just that you can relate to it, but i do hope you are ok and hasn't caused you too much distress.
I have watched flims or read things that i can totaly feel like the people in the flim or book.it is bit disturbing i agree.
Look after your self.

I totally understand rj, some films really connect with us, especially those dealing with abuse, alcoholism, or many other "difficult" issues. Sending Love and Hugs to you this morning, stay safe. xxx

hi all,it was called 'tree of life'

i wouldnt have watched it if i knew what it were about,it said in the write up it was a philosophical film about a father and his 3 sons growing up in 1950s america

it looked perfect, their life to outsiders, but i caught on fairly early in the film something sinister was going on,tiny little things, like how when the boy banged the front door, his father made him 'practice'how to close the door quietly,50 times, then at the meal time there was an atmosphere and everyone was walking on eggshells-when the father went on a trip the family was overjoyed because they would have a few days of brief bliss where everything was not regimented and controled.

so like my life,im not sure its made me feel less alone, but its made me think though
