Pregabalin, effects, side effects and withdrawal.

Postby capitalt » Sun Aug 26, 2018 12:17 pm

I'd been on pregabalin for a number of years following a back problem, initially reduced from 150 to 100mg twice a day, then stopped entirely a year or so ago.
This seems to align with horrendous anxiety, which in itself is difficult to cope with, but perhaps helped me realise problems in my life.
Stupidly I didn't consult, my GP! !
I wonder, has anyone else had withdrawal symptoms from this drug, prescibed it for anxiety, masked anxiety, etc. ?
I also wonder how many other drugs can mask MH issues.
Thank you

Hi

Sorry I can't answer your questions but I have heard that pregabalin is an excellent off-label anti-anxiety med. Would you say that fits in with your experience?

The NHS medicines site says it's now prescribed for anxiety.
Yes, seems to fit with my experiences as anxiety reared it's ugly head once I'd stopped taking it, until then I seemed to have few worries.
Thank you for your reply,

GP has said coming off to quick can cause mood dips !!
My fault, dropped dosage then stopped around same time as stopping antidepressants as was feeling pretty good.
That said had been struggling for a while, but it didn't really register as seemed happy and thought I was coping !!
How wrong I was !!
