alternative to mirtazapine ?

Postby DAREDEVIL78 » Sat Jun 22, 2013 10:40 pm

hi, I wanted to know if anyone had taken mirtazapine and found it works well but struggles with the weight gain/insatiable appetite.

after taking and coming straight off sertraline I was prescribed mirtazapine for sleep/eating issues and more importantly, depression

the sertraline was awful and even after giving it a chance to get in my system i just couldn't tolerate it , mirtazapine was different/better initially and seemed to greatly help but weight gain is a massive problem . logically I thought don't overeat but the necessity to eat was overwhelming.

I wondered is there an alternative antidepressant that solely helps with depression/anxiety as I don't seem to struggle sleeping/eating as I did in the past ?

Many of the drugs has feeling hungry as a side effect. I came off mirtazapine, because all I did was eat for 11 hours and sleep for 13 hours.

Much better now on citalopram and quetiapine.

Have managed to lose weight recently via weight watchers. 9lbs in 3 weeks. :)
