Husband is depressed says he doesn’t love me

Postby bethst » Sun Jun 03, 2018 9:50 pm

My husband of just over two years has said he doesn’t love me anymore. We have a six month old baby.
He is depressed and is currently waiting for an appointment to speak with our local NHS mental health team.
I don’t know how to help him and how to cope at the same time. He is currently away getting some space and I am at home holding our family together.
I fear he is going to come back and tell me he wants a divorce.
I’m so afraid. I don’t know how to cope anymore.

Hi beth

Sorry to hear of your worries. How are you and your husband today?

I don't think it is commonly know that husbands/partners can be brought low with post natal depression.

You are doing right letting him have some space. I find just letting the person know you are there for them is the best way. Depression makes us feel that we are not worth loving and say that others are better of without us.

Look after yourself and your new baby so that you can support him when he needs it. Take care. Chris

Big hugs - it might get better! A new addition can bring a lot of stress. Maybe suggest not to do anything in a hurry...
