Hi, My Name Is Sam

Postby sam172 » Mon Feb 18, 2019 8:33 pm

I've had depression since I was 13. I'm looking for friends with similar issues.
Is there anyone out there who wants to talk?

Thanks for replying Benji.
I'm struggling with voices at the moment. Working on them, which is making them even angrier!
I've also been diagnosed with SchizoAffective Disorder. Don't really know what it means!
Don't know how safe I can stay while carrying out key workers advice

Oh ok, I have no experience with schizoaffective disorder so I had to look into it.
It sounds really tough, are you currently taking medication to help? are there any hobbies you enjoy doing? Even if it's just to 'sedate' yourself until you get better, video games perhaps?

I'm taking antidepressants, anti anxiety, antipsychotics and mood stabilizing meds.
I'm finding that loud music through headphones is the only thing that helps.
I particularly like Billy Bragg, Paul Heaton and Tracey Thorn
Does music, or anything else, help with your issues?

ohh yeah definitely do that then! do you have any friends that can help or are you distrustful?
gaming and music helps, just trying to think that every day I get through is a victory

I've got some friends that I met through mental health groups that I go to.
But, I do find it hard to open up to them because of my distrust.
I try to go out as much as I can, but on bad days, I can't leave my flat.
Do you have friends that you can talk to. Or is this platform your only outlet?

Yeah i'm kind of the same in some regards, I have friends but I keep them all at arms length away because of my distrust.
And like you, stay in my house alot more than i'd like
I used to have friends I could talk to but I feel they've got tired of me sadly.
I'm currently a 3rd year student studying maths, what's your occupation if you have one?

After I left school, I went to Brighton, to work at a hotel. I just wanted to get away from my problems.
Obviously, they followed me there, and I quickly had a breakdown and had to come home to go into hospital.
I've been unable to work since then.
What do you think you'll do once you finish your studies?

Ahh I see, yeah I had to quit my job after I had a breakdown too.
it's a shame and I wish I could work and study more but trying to accept that little effort is better than none at all.
My goals and aspirations change all the time but atm I want to look after animals or people. Wbu?
