Trust plays a key role in helping us cope with the uncertainty and unpredictability of life and of other people. We can somehow 'trust' to some outcomes even though they can't be predicted. We can also 'trust' ourselves even though we may not always be clear about what we think or feel.
In the context of the suicidal process, a lack of trust at this level seems to be a contributory factor.
