A person's response to feeling a lack of self-worth seems to be a contributing factor in the suicidal process.

Having a sense of self-worth enables us to keep going, and gives us satisfaction and joy in who we are and what we do. Without this, it can be hard to find reasons for doing anything, and to feel valuable.
