Interflora partners with SANE to launch kit to encourage mindfulness through flower arranging

Interflora has announced a partnership with SANE to launch The Mindfulness Flower Arranging Kit in time for World Mindfulness Day on 12th September; bringing the practice of mindfulness and flowers together.

Research conducted on behalf of Interflora and SANE has found that over a third (35%) of Brits feel stressed at least once a day. The study has also found that simple pleasures and experiences are what people find the most relaxing – with alone time, being in nature and listening to the rain coming out top.

The top five most relaxing things:

- Having time to yourself (54%)

- Being in nature (35%)

- Listening to the rain (34%)

- Getting into your pyjamas after a long day (33%)

- Listening to a soothing voice (16%)

The top five most stressful things:

- People moaning too much (44%)

- Slow walkers (27%)

- Unreliable Wi-Fi (24%)

- Children arguing (21%)

- Making plans (20%)

The increasing stress of modern life has meant that a huge seven in 10 Brits think that mindfulness is important; and more than six in 10 health-conscious Brits say that they understand mindfulness well or very well.

However, whilst the practice is gaining popularity, only 15% of survey respondents manage to practice mindfulness daily; with busy schedules (27%), difficulty in finding time alone (32%) and uncertainty of where to begin (22%) cited as significant barriers in practicing mindfulness.

The Mindfulness Flower Arranging Kit has been designed by Interflora and SANE to help people to take a few moments for themselves via the medium of flower arranging. The kit features Interflora’s signature array of handcrafted and stunning fresh flowers, prepared by its network of artisan florists, and specifically selected for their mindful properties. Roses, lavender and iris are indigo and violet in tone; colours thought to promote calm, peace and relaxation. The variation in scent and texture of the blooms has also been carefully chosen to ensure a relaxing, multi-sensory experience.

The kit also includes a set of instructions devised in collaboration with SANE, to help lead customers through the process of mindful flower arranging; which will help to awaken their senses, heighten awareness of surroundings, and calm their thoughts.
