Roche take on the AJ Bell Triathlon
Added: 20th Aug 2018

Staff from Roche joined some of the best athletes in the world when they took part in the AJ Bell Triathlon for SANE.

Six employees of Roche in Welwyn Garden City made up the team, competing in the popular event on Saturday, 4th August.

Despite it being one of the hottest days of the year, the team ran, swam and cycled the 32 mile course, raising more than £3,000 for SANE.

The AJ Bell Triathlon is an award-winning event and over the 21 years it has been running, 30,000 spectators have flocked to the streets of London to cheer the triathletes on. SANE was delighted to hear staff from Roche wanted to take on this challenge for mental health.

Linnea, a runner on the day, said: I would like to thank SANE and Roche for giving us the opportunity and support to participate in the triathlon. It was a great experience and fundraising for SANE was even better.”

Another runner said: “I was in such a bubble, I took each and every moment in and more, I didn't miss a thing, I wanted to absorb it all, I appreciated this opportunity and the way my body was feeling.”

Simone Moraes, SANE’s community and events officer, said: “The London Triathlon is a very demanding event and all the participants did exceedingly well. Their effort and commitment to supporting SANE’s work is hugely appreciated.”

We are very grateful of the training and hard work Roche have put into their fundraising for SANE!
