Star fundraiser runs 100 miles in one day
Added: 4th Aug 2017

SANE fundraiser Phil Grantham ran the GrimReaper Ultra Marathon last month for SANE, and amazingly came second place.

He had to run 100 miles in a 26-hour time frame and managed to complete the run with just under two hours to spare!

‘The event was really tough throughout, no sleep with minimal rest periods for eating. The wind was horrible and rain poured throughout the night which really took it’s toll but we got there in the end.’

Phil was shortly followed by work colleague Callum Lee who came fourth in the marathon. Another two colleagues ran 40 miles and were there to support him.

So, not only did our Star Fundraiser compete in this tough event, but he also raised over £2,000 for SANE!

'I chose to fundraise for SANE as a special friend had recently lost her father and mother-in-law as a result of mental illness. I wanted to show my support as much as possible and raise as much awareness about the illness.'

A huge thank you to Phil for being such an amazing fundraiser and a big thank you to all who supported him. We could not be prouder of the great support shown to help change mental health for good!

Look out for Phil’s photo on SANE’s Twitter and Instagram.
