Added: 18th Jul 2017

SANE has teamed up with actress Hanna Stanbridge to support her show I Hate Myself So People Will Like Me (and Other Strategies for Success) premiering at this year’s Edinburgh Festival.

Hanna’s new solo comedy show aims to raise awareness around mental health, in particular, anorexia.

I Hate Myselfdirectly follows Hanna completing two years as series regular in BBC’s continuing drama River City.

She is an award winning actress - BAFTA New Talent Award and Edinburgh International Film Festival Trailblazer Award.

Hanna has also suffered from depression and anorexia since 2009.

She says: “I want to make people laugh and talk openly about mental health but also realise there is help available from such important organisations like SANE: no one should have to suffer alone.”

Marjorie Wallace, founder and chief executive of SANE, says: “It is brave to stand up and make people laugh with you about your frailties. Without being able to laugh, mental illness will remain a subject no-one feels comfortable talking about. I really admire people who can do this.”
