Star fundraiser Philip Marsden raises over £6,500 for SANE
Added: 16th May 2017

A huge thank you and well done to Philip Marsden on fundraising an amazing £6,500 for SANE.

Philip took part in the Thames Path 100 Miles Challenge in April, and came away with the shiny Centurion buckle and a huge donation for SANE.

We were delighted to have Philip run for our charity this year, after having previously taken part in many other charity runs. So, not only did we gain a new supporter, but we gained a pro-active supporter who blew us away with his hard work and dedication.

Thank you Philip for running to fight mental health stigma - and thank you to all who donated and sponsored him. As if this was not enough, we also received a cheque of £500 from one of his friends.

'I chose to run for SANE to help those affected by mental illness that I cannot help directly, including those close to me. I feel strongly that families need support and advice too - to help their loved ones cope and get the treatment they need. While fulfilling these and other aims, SANE is still a comparatively lean charity, and so I was assured the sponsorship I raised would rapidly go directly to its amazing good work. Running 100 miles all in one go was a first for me, it was an extraordinary experience, very difficult and very moving - and I kept myself moving through the night reading messages from my sponsors. I was also comparatively lean at the end too!'
