Congratulations to Stuart Jessup and Poppy, his springer spaniel, on completing their charity walk for SANE’s Black Dog campaign and Anxiety UK! Through storms and gales, they managed to complete the 2,600 mile trek crossing the finish line at Tower Bridge on the afternoon of Sunday 10th June bang on schedule.
Stuart said, “In some ways I’d be quite happy to carry on with the walk, it’s almost become my life over the past eight months or so ...it’s been tremendous and a far more positive experience than I expected. I keep a mood diary which I’ve done for years as it’s a way of managing my depression. I score moods out of five and for the past year along the walk it’s been mainly fours and fives”.
SANE also says a big thank you to Kate Atkin, his wife, who worked on the PR side to help ensure it was a real charity success; Stuart gave radio interviews along the route and the story was picked up by local press.
