Current Vacancies:

Researcher
We are seeking a researcher to work as a part of SANE’s psychosocial research team. The post is offered initially on a 12 months full-time contract, renewable.

The department’s current activities include two qualitative research projects on the experience of suicidal feelings and behaviours. The research team seeks to promote qualitative, participant-led methods in mental health research and the use of the subjective experience of mental disorder in informing the science of psychopathology and the development of mental health care and services. SANE’s suicide research projects receive grant funding from the BIG Lottery Research Programme, the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund and financial support through voluntary income from SANE supporters.

The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute mostly to the second of SANE’s suicide research projects, including tasks such as qualitative interviewing, qualitative data analysis, and writing up results for publication. In addition, s/he will take part in tasks related to the daily running of the department and in developing new projects.

The successful candidate will have a good first degree in a relevant field, e.g. psychology or social science, and experience of qualitative research, including qualitative interviewing and qualitative data analysis. S/he will be well organised, sensitive and intelligent in her/his approach, and capable of working both independently and in a team. The ideal candidate will have a background in psychology or a related discipline and possess a demonstrable interest in philosophy.
