SANE was delighted to be involved in the 2010 Newsroom's Got Talent. After months of planning, 8 'talented' acts took to the stage at London's Indigo2, at the O2 Arena, to raise funds for SANE, Helen and Douglas House and Leonard Cheshire Disability.
Hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Ben Shepherd the acts, made up from various news teams including ITN, ITV, BBC, Al Jazeera, NBC and Channels 4 and 5, took to the stage in front of a sell-out crowd and celebrity guest judges Arlene Phillips, Johnny Vaughen and Louis Spence.
The judges were tough, but clearly saw some talent in Mark Austin's Rock Band, as they were awarded the prestigious prize on the night (and news room bragging rights until next year!) Congratulations to Mark and his band.
The night would not have been complete without some real talent however, with Chesney Hawkes stealing the show with his 90's classic "The One and Only". Overall the event was a huge success, with close to £60,000 being raised on the night, largely thanks to all the wonderful prizes donated for the raffle and auction.
A fantastic evening was had by all. A HUGE thank you must go to everyone who was involved from performers to judges, volunteers to committee members. It really would not have taken place without all of your help.
A special thank you must go to Erin O'Toole of ITN News and colleagues Chris Howse and Rich Pallot. Erin started to whole NGT ball rolling last year and it is going from strength to strength.
