Newcastle was voted by Guardian and Observer readers, as the best city in the UK. Broadcast live on the BBC, the largest half marathon in the UK takes you through the heart of Newcastle and right out to the coast at South Shields.

Visit the popular Quayside area to see the famous Tyne Bridge that joins Newcastle and Gateshead, and pop across the tilting Millennium Bridge to visit the Baltic Gallery and the Sage concert venue.

We have ten places available in this iconic event, so please register your interest early. We ask that our runners aim to raise a minumum of £350 - every penny will be put to immediate use to help improve the lives of those affected by mental illness.

This half marathon event is a good taster if you wish to run a full marathon but haven't done it yet.

If you already have a place for the Great North Run you can still fundraise for SANE by setting up a JustGiving page.

Be a champion for people with mental health problems and help to raise mental health awareness amongst your colleagues, friends and family members.
