So much seems to be happening these days doesn't it? It seems every time we turn on the news there is something big happening somewhere. And lets not mention "the virus". I don't know about you but I can't keep up! What stage of lockdown is happening and where? Where is there any easing of lockdown and what are the new rules and regs? Where is having new rules applied, and what are the rules? Should we quarantine, do we not need to quarantine? And so much is going on for everyone these days too, for us grown ups and kids.

School has started for us and this brings another ton of things to learn, remember and get used to.

All of this of course cannot be helped and everyone is trying their best in a world that none of us were prepared for.

I don't know about you, but my mind is so overactive these days, with everything I am trying to process, learn, remember and get used to it feels like a washing machine on it's final spin of it's cycle. Thoughts and feelings and fears just spinning round and round until it becomes not logical thoughts but a giant mush of thoughts all meshed up in one.

I really got fed up with this washing machine mind today and by chance came across some advice. I have decided to try and slow it down and be more present, which is going to be tricky for me but I am determined to give it a try.

I am going to start to notice when I am overthinking instead of trying to fight the overactive feeling. Once I notice, I want to acknowledge the thoughts. Then, instead of trying to push the thoughts away, I want to actual feel the thoughts, by which I mean instead of trying to ignore the thoughts, I want to understand how they make me feel. I am hoping this will help make me feel more present in the moment instead of worrying about all the "what if's".

And, I think it is important to also acknowledge that it is understandable for any of us to be overthinking at the moment, and to be a lot more kinder to ourselves too.
