Mental Health during the holiday season-how to remember the good times by Amanda

This Christmas has been my first Christmas without my maternal grandmother. To help me cope I decided to remember the happy times from Christmas pasts. One of my favorite memories is of opening gifts at my mom’s house then going over to my grandparent’s house to open gifts and having a fantastic lunch afterwards.

Besides remembering all the happy times, I decided to take each day one at a time. I found that talking with friends on how I felt helped too.

I also focused on the events around me such as the New Year/Kitchen warming party I had with my grandpa. I had a great time seeing friends and enjoyed some holiday treats.

I hope each and every one of you find comfort in this holiday season, and remember that it is okay to reach out for help when needed.
