What helped me?

One major aspect that has helped me to rationalise my thought processes after living with anxiety is verbalising them. This involved talking to myself but out loud or to a family member or friend who I trust. This had the effect of making me identify problems with the way I was thinking and focus on solutions rather than the exacerbated issues. Something else which helped me was music as I was able to express the feelings inside me causing physical symptoms and it provided a sense of healthy escapism. I think self-help is something which is quite important as it helps you gain some sort of control over your emotions, which can calm you down sufficiently.
