Pamela's Story

My name is Pamela, I'm 29 from Dumfries and I've got bipolar type two disorder and borderline personality disorder. When I was diagnosed with bipolar in my early twenties, I had a choice - to use my voice. So I created a Facebook page last April, called Let's Talk Mental Health Now, to raise awareness, to stop the stigma and to help others in my shoes.

I feel misunderstood a lot having a duel illness, as I have never met anybody with both. I could be in a room full of people and feel alone, or I could be the most fun and outgoing person - you just never know what side of me you are going to get.

It has been a bumpy road for me, where my moods and emotions can change at any given moment. Sometimes, I say things I don't mean or I act out of character, but I never give up hope! I am raising money for mental health awareness and I will be taking a counselling course. I am hoping to make counselling my career.

You have to remember that even with a mental illness, you can luve fulfilling lives, but finding that innner strength is the key.
