Everyone needs to talk.

Everyone needs to talk. Since struggling with my anxiety for 4 years now I've realised that talking is the best thing that you can do. I can remember feeling so worried that people would laugh at me and call me stupid for thinking the way I did. And I mean yes, I've had doctors say to me "oh there's nothing wrong with you" and people saying "pull yourself together" or my favourite is "stop worrying about silly things" but the majority of people care. But from my experience the majority of family, friends, teachers, doctors and even strangers do care. The amount of support I've received from people close to me has been amazing (sometimes it comes from the most unexpected people) and without that support I don't know if I would be able to be doing what I am today. Living away from home, working, studying for my degree after just travelling around Europe for a month on my own and now making plans for next summer. What I'm trying to say is that any mental health issues that anyone may have does not define who you are, it does not give people the right to underestimate you and it does not in any way mean that you can't do the things that you have always wanted to do. But from my experience being able to talk to someone makes everything a lot easier. Don't worry about how silly you may think your being because I promise you it is totally acceptable and you will not be the first person who has had irrational thoughts. Your not on your own, there is always someone who can help despite all the flaws in the mental health system and stigma surrounding these issues. There is so much work that needs to be done to help people suffering with mental health problems but a starting point for everyone is talking.
