As the seasons change so does your immune system. Strengthening your immune system can help you fend off many illnesses that can occur as the seasons change. Germs are everywhere you go and on everything you touch, passing from one person to another. The next thing you know you are sick. Well, there are things you can do to strengthen your immune system that will have you facing each season head on. Just by changing your diet to one that does not include red meat or pork can strengthen it tremendously. Red meat is full of saturated fat and will have an effect on your cholesterol and increase your risk of type 2 diabetes. If you cannot cut red meat out completely, try reducing it at first until you are just eating it occasionally. Cut out all the refined carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour and replace them with whole grains and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from the sugary sodas which are of no help to your immune system. Replace the entire fatty dairy product such as milk, yogurt and cheeses, with low-fat ones.

D-Ribose is equipped with the elements that form the building blocks of the ATP. ATP is essentially energy storage of the muscles. D-Ribose is not only good for strengthening the muscles, but also helps in strengthening the immune system by protecting the heart.

Vitamin C and Omega 3 fatty acids are important
Increase your diet to include more fatty fish such as salmon, which is not high in saturated fat, a good source of protein and Omega 3-fatty acids. Eating more fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C will help strengthen your immune system. Vitamin C fights infections and can be found in citrus fruits such as oranges, and can be found in bell peppers, tomatoes, berries, broccoli and peas just to name a few.

Research has shown that people with low selenium content are more prone to prostate, breast, colon, bladder, rectum and lung cancers. This makes extremely important for you to take adequate amount of selenium to make sure your immune system is strong to fight against various types of cancers. Broccoli, garlic, barley, tuna fish, Brazil nut and sardines are rich in selenium.

Stay away from alcohol and add physical activities to your routine
You can have your evening glass of wine, however, overindulging in alcohol can weaken the immune system you are trying to build and increase your chances of getting sick. Adding physical activity to your daily routines will also make your immune system stronger. By exercising, you are making your heart and muscles stronger. Moderate exercise at least 3 days a week will boost your immune system. Or by just taking a walk every day for at least 30 minutes will go a long way in helping you in your quest to fight illnesses throughout the seasons. However, just like anything else, you don’t want to over-exercise.

Give proper rest to the body
Doing too much without giving your body rest can decrease the effect you are trying to build in your immune system. If you become run-down, your immune system will weaken and will not be as strong; thereby, you will run the risk of getting ill.
