Grief with Learning Difficulties and Mental Health

I am a pa/support worker to a 29 male with moderate learning difficulties. Unfortunately his family pet dog of 14yrs (his "brother") was put to sleep.
Over the course of a few weeks his grief was severe but appeared to at least follow traditional models. Unfortunately he was unable to continue with his daily life whilst continuing with his grief ing process. He stopped engaging in activities. This then progressed into chronic insomnia, loss of appetite and general motivation. He then started to run away mostly without a planned place to run to.
GP was involved but without any plan of action he grew worse. He started to report feeling "evil" and experienced images of evil and suffering.
He stopped talking. Has anyone any experience with such an issue or know about the best place to get treatment?
