SANEline handles over 2000 calls every month from members of the public with concerns about mental health. Anybody can call SANEline every day between 6pm and 11pm where you will get to speak to a trained volunteer who will be able to offer practical help and support.

Most of our callers (87%) are people experiencing a mental health problems of some sort with a significant number of calls from carers (6%), and concerned others (5%). The remaining calls come from health professionals or people seeking general information.

Of the calls that we receive relating to a particular illness, most relate to psychotic illnesses, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Sadly, as many as 19% of our callers have suicidal feelings and volunteers are trained to handle such crisis calls.
