Shift is a new, five year initiative in England that has been created to tackle the misunderstanding, prejudice and isolation encountered by people with mental health problems.

Shift is run by the National Institute for Mental Health in England (NIMHE), and with the support of SANE, Mental Health Media, Mind, Rethink, and The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health has produced a booklet, 'Tackling Stigma and Discriminating in Media Reporting'.

The booklet offers practical suggestions on ways in which members of the public can get involved in fighting stigma in the media, and is downloadable from the Shift website: www.shift.org.uk
