SANE is thrilled to be able to announce that from Monday 8 May 2006, our unique helpline SANEline will be open from 1pm to 11pm every day of the year. These hours will replace the existing opening hours of 12 noon -11pm on weekdays and 12 noon to 6pm at weekends.

Following the Government’s late payment on a contract and non-renewal of funding, SANE was forced to reduce the opening hours of SANEline, but thanks to the generosity of individuals and organisations, it is now possible to reinstate late opening at weekends.

Commenting on the extended opening hours, Justin Irwin, SANE’s Director of Fundraising and Operations, said: "We are truly delighted to be reinstating our service in the evenings at weekends. This is in direct response to the requests of those who use the helpline, and we can now help people at a time when they can feel extremely isolated.”

SANE remains committed to ensuring that more people are able to get through to speak to a SANEline worker during the new opening hours, and urgently needs funds to ensure that more telephone lines can be staffed between 1pm and 11pm every day.
