SANE invites you to experience for yourself the work of Optimal Living-Community Interest Company (CIC).

The company teaches Mindfulness-based courses and is currently offering eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programmes aimed at those experiencing stress, anxiety, fear, anger, worry and persistent low mood.

Scientific evidence has shown the benefits of mindfulness to include: increased ability to relax, improved self confidence and emotional resilience in the face of difficult situations.

In recent decades there has been increasing recognition of the efficacy of mindfulness-based therapy in treating psychological issues. SANE supports this development; In the Autumn of 2008 we invited the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC) under the directorship of Professor Mark Williams to work alongside SANE’s neuroscience research team in Oxford at The Prince of Wales International Centre for SANE Research (POWIC). One strand of Professor Williams’ research looks at the efficacy of mindfulness-based approaches in preventing relapse for people who have previously had severe depression.

The next course at Optimal Living CIC starts 12 April 2010. If you are interested in participating, please visit www.beingmindful.net, or contact Rosalie on 07906717409, or Peter on 07885655092.
