Prince launches SANE's research centre

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Patron of SANE officially opened The Prince of Wales International Centre for SANE Research in Oxford on Wednesday 5 February. The Centre is devoted to finding the causes of and better treatments for schizophrenia and depression and marks the fulfilment of an eleven year vision for SANE.

Marjorie Wallace, Chief Executive and founder of SANE was presented with a British Neuroscience Association ‘Award for Public Service’ in recognition of her contribution to raising public awareness of the benefits and achievements of brain research and for enhancing the living standards of those suffering from mental health conditions.

SANE, alongside other core members of the Mental Health Alliance attended a mass lobby of parliament on the 23 October 2002. Hundreds of service users, carers and professionals came together in Westminster to put pressure on their MPs to oppose the draft Mental Health Bill.
