SANE works closely with other mental health charities and organisations in order to raise awareness of mental illness and reduce stigma, and to campaign for improved laws and services.
SANE is a member of the Mental Health Alliance, a coalition of over 50 service user, professional, service provider, trade union and voluntary organisations set up to provide a focus for campaigning on common concerns about reform of the Mental Health Act 1983.
YouthNet UK is a groundbreaking national youth service, helping more than one million young people every month. Like SANEline and SANEmail, it provides unbiased information to enable people to make informed choices. Working in partnership with YouthNet UK since November 2004, SANEline has responded to over 250 messages from young people regarding any mental or emotional health concerns they may have. Issues have covered key areas of mental health, from depression, self-harm and suicide to issues of abuse and eating disorders.
Working in partnership with health and local authorities to provide locally focused helpline support is another important aspect of SANE's work. Through such partnerships, SANEline works with local mental health services to maximise the help provided to callers through enhanced information about local support networks and links with local service users and carers. Through anonymised feedback on calls from the area, SANE is able to provide valuable information on the concerns callers express, enabling health and local authorities to better target their services. Through the links with service users and carers, SANE participates in local service and policy developments.
SANE currently has local partners in City & Hackney, Barnet, Hertfordshire and North Lancashire and is working closely with other local authorities to develop future partnerships.
