National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA)
The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA) aims to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents are affected by alcoholism or a similar addictive problem. This includes children of alcohol dependent parents of all ages, many of whose problems only become apparent in adulthood. The charity runs a helpline which provides emotional support and information on these issues, to young people.
Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. They offer a service by telephone, email, letter and face to face in most branches.
